My name is Donna Marie Kent. I am a woman, an artist, daughter, sister, and aunt to nine nieces and nephews. I have a very large loving family of Italian and Irish decent. My Italian grandparents both immigrated to the US as young people in the 1920’s and had a great tradition of food and culture that was a big part of my childhood. My Irish great grandparents came to America in the late 1800’s and helped build the railroads, from them I have a deep love of Celtic culture, music and folklore. Because of them I am a proud American with a deep respect of traditional and religious values. I was raised and educated in the Catholic faith, although I enjoy spirituality on many levels. I love art, design and most creative endeavors with an equal passion for the outdoors, gardening, rocks, plants and the ocean. I have been a vegetarian for most of my life and love to infuse family traditions into my cooking. My family is what I would call “salt of the earth” hard working people with a value center of faith, family and service. This has shaped the person I am in my own life and one of the key factors to becoming an educator.
